About the Candidate

Meet Andrew J. Schultz

A Leader Ward County Can Trust

Andrew grew up in an area riddled with drugs and crime: the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky during the 1990s. The epidemic was often discussed in his childhood
home. Andrew’s mother, an award-winning journalist, covered news stories of overdoses, prosecutions, and community efforts to combat the local drug crisis. His
father, a career postman, served on the town’s Parks and Recreation Committee, and led movements to create more sporting fields, parks, and community activities to keep
children off the streets and promote healthy family relationships. They avidly attended Berea United Methodist Church, where Andrew was an acolyte and member of the
choir; Andrew attends online services to this day.

His mother’s skepticism of government, coupled with frequent family political discussions, led Andrew to seek a law degree, to defend every citizen’s constitutional
rights. He graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2009, with a concentration in Criminal Litigation Skills.

After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Andrew moved to North Dakota in 2010 and began practicing law; he owns and operates Worthington & Schultz, PC in Minot. Andrew has also served in multiple community roles, including as the first Executive Director of the Minot Area Recovery Community Organization, as a criminal justice columnist for the Minot Daily News and The Dakotan, and as a member of the District 40 North Dakota Republicans (serving as First Vice Chairman from 2023-2025).
Andrew currently serves on the Board of Directors for Together With Veterans, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and prevention of rural veteran
suicide.
